About the Story: This novella is a Victorian Romance taking place in New York about Jennifer Appleton, a young, lovely woman, orphaned, living with her Aunt. She has a secret she hasn’t told anyone. She is psychic. So when certain important events occur within her family she knows of them. She had a vision of what her husband-to-be looked like. He was so handsome and tall. But another vision closely followed the first involving him that put her in absolute panic. She tried everything she could think of to change the outcome of what she saw. Is it even possible to change the future?
This novella, even though short, felt complete. Ms. Rose developed her main characters to be 3-dimensional in every aspect and the plot was detailed with a clever story. I felt that I was in New York during the holiday season. This is the kind of book to read when snuggled up under a lap blanket next to a fire, hot chocolate in hand.
A tantalizing excerpt:
Her niece was as white as a marble statue. Her violet eyes had dimmed, and her lips were trembling. Wordlessly, she laid the Times on the coffee table. The headline unmistakable: JARED MARTON, 34-YEAR-OLD LAWYER, SHOT DEAD!
“My dear!” Eve gasped in horror. “Why, it cannot be! There must be some mistake. You warned him not to go out…surely he couldn’t have forgotten?”
